Free · 30 minutes · for businesses turning over R1m+
Three places you're overpaying SARS. We'll show you, with a number next to each.
The Tax Second Opinion is a 30-minute call on your own numbers. You leave with the three biggest leaks in your business and an indication of what each is worth, in rand. No obligation, and nothing to send us that you're not comfortable sharing. One call, and you'll know where you stand; exact figures are confirmed by our tax team once you come on board.
Why it exists
Accountants mark their own homework.
When last did someone who doesn't do your books look at your tax? The person who prepares the return is rarely the person who questions the structure behind it. The review is a second opinion from people who do this every week.
Structure
Is the property in the right entity? Should the group be a group? Is a trust doing what it was set up to do?
Remuneration mix
Salary, dividends, loan accounts and fringe benefits, set once years ago and never revisited against current rates.
Unclaimed allowances
Small business corporation status, accelerated write-offs, home office, vehicles, learnerships, interest and building allowances.
What happens
From booking to findings in 48 hours.

Thirty seconds. A person phones you within 30 minutes during business hours (or by 09:00 the next morning) to confirm a slot and tell you what to have ready.
Share what you're comfortable with
Nothing is required. The review works best with your latest SARS assessment (ITA34) or a set of financials, but it also works on the numbers you know off the top of your head: turnover, profit, what you pay yourself. Anything you do send is covered by our confidentiality undertaking and deleted within 90 days if we don't proceed.
The call
Thirty minutes on your numbers. Three leaks, an indication of what each is worth, and a plain answer on whether we can help. A written summary follows the same day; the precise calculations are done by our tax team during onboarding.
Who it's for
Owner-managed businesses, R1m to R50m turnover.
Contractors, professionals, retailers, property owners, transport and service businesses. Companies, CCs, sole proprietors and groups with trusts. The review is built for businesses turning over R1m or more, or smaller businesses that are part of a group or run at a high profit; below that, the savings rarely justify the work.
A recent finding
A property-rental CC earning R828k a year in rent had claimed no interest, no depreciation and no building allowance for years. That isn't clever tax planning. That's just reading the return.
Anonymised. A real review, real figures.

Questions
Before you book.
Is it really free?
Yes. The review is how we meet new clients. About a third of the businesses we review become retainer clients; the rest get a free second opinion and we part as friends.
Will you need access to my SARS profile?
Not for the review. Your last annual financial statements or your latest assessment is enough. Access comes later, only if you decide to work with us.
Is this tax avoidance?
No. Everything we look at is in the Income Tax Act and SARS's own practice notes. We help you pay the least the law allows, and we never recommend anything we wouldn't defend to SARS.
My accountant is a friend. Is this awkward?
Only if we find something, and then it's a conversation worth having. You can take our findings to them with the numbers in front of you; many clients do exactly that before deciding.
What if my turnover is under R1m?
The review is designed for R1m+ businesses, because that's where the savings cover the cost of fixing them. If you're part of a group, or a smaller business with a high profit margin, book anyway and say so on the form.
